Clothes right after a shower

Short answer: Let your skin dry completely before getting dressed. Damp skin under fabric leads to rubbing and itching, the most common problem after a shower, but a thorough towel, a few minutes of patience and clean clothes solve it.

Dry your skin properly

A towel rarely reaches every spot equally well. Moisture stays behind especially between the toes, in the groin and under the arms, exactly where clothing sits close. That is where the fabric rubs when damp skin moves against it. Spend a few extra seconds on those areas before putting on bamboo underwear for women.

Wait a few minutes

Your skin keeps releasing moisture after the towel, especially after a warm shower. Two to three minutes make a noticeable difference, because the last moisture has time to evaporate. Use the time to brush your teeth or comb your hair. Then get dressed, for example in bamboo T-shirts for women.

Clean clothes on clean skin

There is no point putting worn clothes on after a shower. They contain sweat and skin residue that settle straight back onto clean skin. Lay out a fresh set before you shower so you are not tempted to reach for the same pieces. This applies to everything in our women's clothing.

Hot water dries the skin

Hot water removes some of the skin's natural oils, which is why skin can feel tight and dry after a long, hot shower. Dry skin is more sensitive to friction from clothing. Lukewarm water and shorter showers are gentler. Many people notice a difference after just a few days with cooler water.

Cream before clothes

If you use cream after showering, give it time to absorb before getting dressed. A rich cream under close fitting clothing can feel sticky and transfer to the fabric. Wait a few minutes, or choose a light cream in the morning. Products without perfume are a good choice if your skin is sensitive.

Choose soft clothing after a shower

Right after a shower the skin is warm and a little more sensitive than usual. Rough or stiff clothing is felt more at that moment. A soft, smooth fabric that lies calmly against the skin is the most comfortable choice. Avoid tight waistbands and stiff labels while the skin is still warm.

Towels and washing

Towels washed with fabric softener absorb less water and leave more moisture on the skin. Wash them with a neutral detergent without perfume and skip the softener. Change your towel regularly and let it dry completely between uses, so it stays fresh and absorbs well.

When the itching continues

Itching after a shower usually fades once the skin is dry and the water a little cooler. If it continues, or the skin turns red and flaky, there may be other causes, such as soap, detergent or a skin condition. For persistent or strong discomfort, talk to your doctor.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my skin itch after a shower

Because hot water removes some of the skin's oils and damp skin is more sensitive to friction. Close fitting clothing often makes the feeling stronger.

Does cooler water help

Yes, for many people. Hot showers dry the skin more than lukewarm ones, and a shorter shower with lukewarm water is often enough to reduce itching afterwards.

Can clothing make the itching worse

Yes, if it is rough or sits tight against damp skin. Soft, clean clothing on completely dry skin is the gentlest choice right after a shower.
