Most of the socks in this shop are black, grey and navy. This is the exception. The Harlequin pack is five pairs in striking, cheerful colours for those who use their socks as the splash of colour in an outfit, or who are simply tired of the sock drawer looking like a darkroom. The colour is the point

A coloured sock works best when the rest of the outfit is calm. Dark jeans, white trainers and a glimpse of strong colour at the ankle is a classic way to give a simple outfit personality, and with five different coloured pairs you can vary the look all week. The quality is the same as the dark ones

The colours are what you see, but the construction is the same as in our classic socks: ordinary length, a soft elastic edge and flat seams over the toes, so there is no thick knot rubbing inside the shoe. It is an everyday sock in party clothes, not a joke sock for one wear.

The material

The socks are knitted from 75 % bamboo viscose, 23 % polyester and 2 % elastane. The bamboo viscose makes the sock soft and carries the moisture away from the skin, so the feet stay dry and fresh through the day. The polyester gives durability in the heel and the toe, and the elastane makes sure the sock keeps its shape. Bold colours, tested dyes

The more colours there are and the stronger they are, the more it matters what they have been dyed with. The socks are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, cert. no. 976-15301, and the certificate covers all the materials in the sock, the dyes included. Colour all year round

In summer the coloured socks speak with shorts and light trainers, but they actually do the most good in the dark half of the year. When the rest of your clothes are grey, black and navy from October to March, a glimpse of colour at the ankle is the smallest and cheapest way to keep your spirits up in the way you dress. Five different pairs mean you can adjust the dose: a muted colour for meeting days, a sharp one for Friday.

How to keep the colours strong

Wash the socks inside out at 40 degrees, preferably together with other coloured clothes. Skip the fabric softener, and avoid the tumble dryer, because it is the heat from the dryer that ages colours fastest. Air drying costs a couple of hours and extends the life of the socks considerably. More advice under washing and care.

Size

The pack comes in three sizes from 34/39 to 45/49. Choose the range your normal shoe size falls into, and the smaller of two if you are on the border, so the sock fits closely from the first day.
