WASHING AND CARE

To extend the lifespan of your bamboo clothing, we recommend:

Wash at 30–40°C
Wash inside out – especially if there is print
Air dry in the shade instead of using a tumble dryer
Use detergent without strong enzymes – e.g. wool/silk detergent, preferably fragrance-free
Underwear can be washed at 60°C, but this may shorten the lifespan

DESCRIPTION

Petrol: the colour between blue and green

Petrol is hard to place, and that is exactly what makes it useful. It is dark enough to work as a base colour, but it has a green tinge that keeps it from looking like yet another navy T-shirt. The style is a classic T-shirt with a round neck in sizes S to XXXL.

The fabric is 70 % bamboo viscose

The T-shirt is made from 70 % bamboo viscose, 25 % organic cotton and 5 % elastane. The high proportion of bamboo viscose is the reason the fabric feels smooth and cool against the skin rather than rougher, the way pure cotton does. The cotton gives the T-shirt body, and the elastane keeps the neckline in shape wash after wash. You can read how bamboo becomes a textile on the page about how bamboo viscose is made.

Temperature-regulating in practice

Bamboo viscose draws moisture away from the skin and is breathable. In a T-shirt this means it can be used both as the only layer in summer heat and as the innermost layer under a jumper in winter, without becoming clammy in either case. It is the same property that makes the fabric comfortable on travel days with many changes of temperature. Read about the fibre under facts about bamboo.

A wide range of sizes

The T-shirt is available from S to XXXL. The cut is straight and classic, and most people choose their usual size. If you want the T-shirt closer to the body, you can go one size down, and if it is to be worn loose over the trousers, one size up gives the right drape.

Wash cold, dry in the air

Wash inside out at 30 degrees without fabric softener, and let the T-shirt air dry. Petrol is a saturated colour, and saturated colours are the ones that lose the most in a warm wash and with harsh drying. With a cold wash the colour keeps its depth for years. All our recommendations are in the guide to washing and care.

Documented free from harmful substances

The fabric is certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, certificate number BJ020 142441. That means the finished textile, including the dyeing and the sewing thread, has been tested for harmful substances. We go through what the certification includes in practice on the page about OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100.

No label at the neck

The T-shirt has the size printed instead of a label sewn into the neck. It is a small detail, but it is the most common reason a T-shirt ends up being cut into, and for people with sensitive skin it is often the difference between the top being worn or not.

The neckline keeps its shape

It is rarely the fabric that gives up first on a T-shirt. It is the neckline, which goes wavy and washed out after six months of use. The elastane in the blend keeps the rib at the neckline taut, and because the T-shirt is air dried instead of being tumbled, the edge is not pulled out of shape along the way.

Easy to combine

Petrol works with all the trousers a navy T-shirt would go with: jeans, black trousers, grey trousers and beige chinos. The difference is that the colour gets noticed. That makes it a good choice if you want variation in a wardrobe of dark base colours without having to buy new for the rest. See the other shades in the collection with bamboo T-shirts for men.
