Seven pairs of black low cut bamboo socks

Seven identical pairs of black socks with a low cut leg. This is the pack you buy when the sock drawer needs clearing out and starting over, and when you have grown tired of owning fourteen different kinds of socks, five of which are single.

Low cut, seven times

The leg stops just above the edge of the shoe. It is shorter than an ankle sock, but long enough that the heel stays in place, and there is less elastic around the leg than in a regular sock. That last point is why many people switch to low cut: no tight edge around the calf, no groove in the skin, and less pressure if the legs swell during the day.

Seven pairs means a clean pair every day for a whole week. There is no washing needed midweek, and because all seven are the same, they can be paired up without looking. The price per pair is lower than in a smaller pack.

What the material does

75 % bamboo viscose, 23 % polyester and 2 % elastane. The bamboo viscose moves moisture away from the skin and out into the fabric, where it evaporates, instead of letting it gather under the foot. The result is a foot that still feels dry at the end of the day, and a sock that does not smell as quickly, because bacteria live on exactly that moisture.

The fibre is at the same time smooth and round on the surface. It does not roll up into hard balls under the foot the way short cotton fibre does after a few months of wear, and it does not scratch if you have sensitive skin. The other properties are set out under benefits of bamboo viscose.

The polyester provides durability in the heel and toe. The elastane keeps the edge taut, so the low cut leg does not work its way down into the shoe. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, cert. no. 976-15301.

Black hides wear

A black sock hides both lint and the wear that inevitably appears under the forefoot. That is why black stays looking good longer than white, even though the fabric is the same. The colour is set in a proper dye bath, so it does not turn grey after a few washes, which cheap black socks often do.

Washing

40 degrees together with the rest of your dark items. Fabric softener is to be avoided. It settles like a film in the fibres and slows the moisture transport, and it is the most common reason a bamboo sock suddenly does not feel the way it did when it was new. See washing and care.

Size

Choose by your normal shoe size, and take the smaller of two if you are on the borderline. On a low cut model in particular it matters, because a sock bought too big works its way down under the heel during the day, whereas a sock that fits closely from the start stays in place.
