A black slip does two things at once: it puts a smooth layer between skin and clothes, so the dress on top hangs well, and it stops a thin fabric from becoming see-through in backlight. This style has thin straps and side seams and is cut to lie close without being tight.

With dark dresses and skirts, black is almost always the right choice. A light slip under dark, thin fabric can be seen as a shadow, while a black one disappears completely. The slip is made from 70 % bamboo viscose, 25 % organic cotton and 5 % elastane. The bamboo viscose gives the smooth surface that makes the clothes on top glide instead of clinging, the cotton gives the fabric substance, and the elastane makes sure the slip follows the body. An extra layer that does not get warm

Because bamboo viscose is breathable and moves moisture away from the skin, the slip does not feel like an extra layer in summer heat. Many people use it precisely in the summer, when a thin dress would otherwise cling to the skin. In winter it works as a thin warming layer under knitwear. Sizes from S to XXL

The style comes in five sizes. It needs to sit close to do its job, but not so tight that it shows through your clothes. If you are between two sizes, choose the smaller one if it is mainly to be worn under close-fitting dresses, and the larger one if it has to be worn for many hours.

How it keeps its shape

Wash at 30 degrees without fabric softener, feel free to use a laundry bag, and let the slip air dry. The elastane in the fabric loses its stretch in high heat, and that is why the tumble dryer is the quickest route to a slip that has become too big. Straps and seams without edges

The straps are narrow enough to stay clear of most armholes, and the side seams are sewn flat so that they do not show through thin fabric. Those are the two details that decide whether a slip really does become invisible under clothes or ends up creating the very problem it was meant to solve.

Also practical under knitwear

Besides the thin dresses, many people wear a black slip under wool jumpers and knitted dresses, because the smooth layer stops the knit from scratching against the skin.
