The slip that solves the problem of see-through dresses

A slip is rarely bought because it is beautiful. It is bought because a dress or skirt is just thin enough that you can make out what is underneath. This slip in tan nude is designed for exactly that: a smooth, close-fitting base under your clothes that does not show through and does not cling to the fabric on top.

Why tan nude rather than white

With light, thin dresses a white slip is often more visible than one in a skin tone, because white reflects light through the fabric. Tan nude sits closer to most skin tones and therefore disappears better under light colours. If you have dark clothes, the black version is the right choice, and most people end up owning both colours.

The material against the skin

The slip is made from 70 % bamboo viscose, 25 % organic cotton and 5 % elastane. The bamboo viscose gives the smooth, cool surface that makes the dress on top glide rather than catch, while the elastane makes sure it follows the body without tightening. Cooler in summer, warmer in winter

Bamboo viscose is breathable and draws moisture away from the skin, and that is why a bamboo slip also works in summer, when an extra layer would otherwise be too warm. In winter the same layer makes the dress warmer without feeling thick. The background is collected under facts about bamboo.

Cut and size

The style has thin straps and side seams and comes in sizes S to XXL. It sits close but not tight, and is designed to lie smoothly under your clothes. If you are between two sizes, the smaller one gives the smoothest line under a close-fitting dress, while the larger one is more comfortable to wear for many hours.

Wash it gently

Wash the slip at 30 degrees without fabric softener, ideally in a laundry bag together with other underwear, and let it air dry. The thin straps are the weakest point, and they last markedly longer when the slip is not tumble dried. All the advice is in our guide to washing and care.

The fabric is certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 with certificate number BJ020 142441. The certification means that the finished textile has been tested for harmful substances, which is worth knowing in a garment that lies directly against the skin all day. It disappears under your clothes

The side seams are sewn flat, and there are no thick edges that can show through a thin fabric. That is the main point of a slip: it should be visible in the result, not on the body. The straps are narrow enough to clear the armholes of most dresses, so they do not peek out at the shoulder.
