Terracotta is the warmth of fired clay: a red brown, sun ripened shade that brings the Mediterranean into the wardrobe. It is a colour that makes tanned skin glow and winter pale skin look warmer, and it has become one of the best loved alternatives to the eternal basic colours. The colour that gives warmth

Terracotta belongs to the family of rust and burnt orange, but it is more subdued and therefore easier to wear. The fabric

The T-shirt is made of 70 % bamboo viscose, 25 % organic cotton and 5 % elastane. The bamboo viscose gives the fabric its smooth, heavy drape, so the top hangs beautifully instead of sticking out, and the fibre leads moisture away from the skin and out into the fabric, where it evaporates. Cool in the heat

A warm colour calls for a cool fabric. The bamboo viscose feels cool against the skin and breathes, so the terracotta top can be worn on the hottest days without clinging, and it is precisely there, in sun and summer, that the colour is in its element. After a day in the heat the top is still fresh, because the moisture has evaporated instead of sitting in the fabric.

Into the suitcase

Terracotta is one of the very best holiday colours: it grows more beautiful the more sun the skin gets, it hides the small marks of a travel day better than light colours, and it looks just right for both a trip to the beach and dinner out in the evening. Add that the bamboo viscose dries quickly after a hand wash at the hotel and barely creases in the suitcase, and the top picks itself for the summer packing list.

Washing

Wash the top inside out at 30 to 40 degrees with similar colours, avoid fabric softener, and let it air dry. That way the terracotta shade keeps its warmth, and the fabric its drape. More advice is under washing and care.

Size

The model comes in sizes S to XXL with a regular fit. The elastane gives freedom of movement, so your usual size fits; go up only for a deliberately looser look. If you are between two sizes, the smaller one gives the closer drape that suits the warm colour best.
