Five pairs of black bamboo footies that stay in place
A footie should preferably not be noticed. It should sit below the edge of the shoe, keep the foot dry and otherwise mind its own business. The problem with most footies is that they creep down under the heel after a couple of hundred steps, and then you stand there fishing for them in the middle of the street. These five pairs are sewn with a higher heel section than the classic footie, precisely so they hold on around the heel bone instead of sliding off.
The colour is black, and they come in three sizes: 34/39, 40/44 and 45/49. They are unisex, so the same pair can be worn by both people in the household.
For trainers, loafers and deck shoes
The footie is the sock of the summer. It is worn with trainers where no sock should show, with loafers where an ordinary sock would look wrong, and with deck shoes where the skin would otherwise rub against the leather. You get the barefoot look without going barefoot in the shoe, and that is the whole point. Shoes simply last longer when there is fabric between foot and leather.
Why bamboo in a footie
It is precisely in a footie that the material comes into its own. The foot is shut in, the air has nowhere to go, and the temperature rises. Bamboo viscose wicks the moisture away from the skin and out into the fabric, where it evaporates, instead of letting it gather between the toes. The result is a foot that still feels dry late in the afternoon.
The fibre is also smooth on the surface. It does not scratch, it does not pill, and it leaves no red marks across the instep. Composition
75 % bamboo viscose, 23 % polyester and 2 % elastane. The polyester is there for the sake of durability, as a pure viscose footie would be worn through under the ball of the foot after one season. The elastane keeps the edge taut around the foot. Certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, cert. no. 976-15301, which means tested for substances harmful to health.
Washing
40 degrees together with the rest of your dark clothes. Fabric softener has to be avoided, as it settles like a film in the fibres and slows down exactly the moisture wicking you have paid for. Feel free to turn them inside out, as that makes the heel reinforcement last longer. The rest is under washing and care.
Five pairs at a time
Footies get harder wear than other socks, because they sit directly against the shoe with nothing in between. That is why we sell them five at a time.
