WASHING AND CARE

To extend the lifespan of your bamboo clothing, we recommend:

Wash at 30–40°C
Wash inside out – especially if there is print
Air dry in the shade instead of using a tumble dryer
Use detergent without strong enzymes – e.g. wool/silk detergent, preferably fragrance-free
Underwear can be washed at 60°C, but this may shorten the lifespan

DESCRIPTION

Five pairs of black bamboo ankle socks from Copenhagen Bamboo

The ankle sock is the sock most people end up wearing the most. It sits just above the ankle, so higher than a footie but lower than a classic sock. That means it stays in place all day without creeping down into the shoe, and at the same time it disappears under your trousers so it does not show. Here you get five pairs in black, sewn in bamboo viscose by our own brand Copenhagen Bamboo.

Five pairs are enough for you to put on a clean pair every day of the working week and only do the washing at the weekend. That is precisely why we sell them in multipacks. It is cheaper per pair, and you avoid the half drawer of odd socks that do not match.

How bamboo feels on the foot

Bamboo viscose is softer than ordinary cotton. The fibres are round and smooth on the surface, whereas cotton fibres are shorter and rougher, and you notice it straight away when you put the sock on. There is no scratchy edge and no hard seam across the toes.

The material wicks moisture away from the skin instead of collecting it. The foot therefore gets less clammy with sweat during the day, and the sock dries quickly again. That is one of the main reasons our customers buy bamboo socks again: they can be worn a whole day in closed shoes without smelling. You can read more about the fibre and how it is made in our facts about bamboo.

Bamboo viscose is also temperature regulating. It keeps the warmth in during the winter and leads the warmth away in the summer, so the sock can be worn all year round. The material is also a good choice if you have sensitive skin or easily get itchy from wool and synthetic blends.

Four sizes

The sock comes in 30/33, 34/39, 40/44 and 45/49. That ranges from a child's foot to large men's sizes, which is wider than most ankle socks on the market, and it is the reason it is unisex. Choose by your normal shoe size. If you fall right between two sizes, take the smaller one, as bamboo gives a little after the first few times on the foot.

Material and certification

The composition is 75 % bamboo viscose, 23 % polyester and 2 % elastane. The polyester gives durability in the heel and the toe, where socks usually wear through first, and the elastane keeps the leg up above the ankle. Pure bamboo without those two would feel softer for the first week and then sag.

The socks are OEKO TEX Standard 100 certified, cert. no. 976 15301. The certification means that every single component in the sock has been tested for substances harmful to health. The background is on what does OEKO TEX mean.

Washing and lifespan

Wash at 40 degrees together with the rest of your dark clothes. Leave out the fabric softener, as it settles in the fibres and removes exactly the moisture wicking you bought the sock for. Tumble drying on low heat is acceptable, but air drying gives the sock more years. The whole procedure is under washing and care.

If the sock has to be completely invisible in the shoe, look at footies instead. You will find the whole range under bamboo socks for men and bamboo socks for women.
