Two grey bamboo tops with thin straps

In winter it is not the thick jumper that decides whether you are comfortable all day. It is the layer closest to the skin. A thin top with thin straps under knitwear and shirts holds on to your body heat without adding bulk, and it takes the moisture that wool would otherwise get directly. This pack contains two identical grey tops with adjustable straps, for women, in sizes S to XXL.

The thin layer under the knit

Wool and thick knitwear warm best when there is a smooth layer in between. The top does three things at once: it lies flat against the body, so the knit does not itch, it keeps the warmth in instead of letting it escape through the stitches, and it catches the day's moisture, so the jumper needs washing less often. It is the cheapest way to look after the expensive outer layer.

Grey does not show

Grey is the most restrained of the neutrals. Under dark clothes it does not show through the way white does, and under light clothes it does not look harsh the way black does. Should a strap appear at the shoulder after all, it looks like a detail rather than a mistake. That is why grey is a sensible colour to have two of.

The fabric

The tops are made of 70 % bamboo viscose, 25 % organic cotton and 5 % elastane. The bamboo viscose is smooth and cool against the skin and draws moisture away from the body, so it evaporates in the fabric. Straps that can be adjusted

The thin straps can be adjusted in length, and that is worth spending a minute on. If they sit correctly, the top lies flat across the shoulders and cannot be seen under a close fitting jumper. If they sit too loosely, the fabric bags at the bust and shows through the knit. The side seams hold the rest of the shape in place.

The certification

The tops are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified under cert. no. BJ020 142441, which means that all components are tested for harmful substances. Washing

Wash the tops at 30 to 40 degrees together with the rest of your grey and light clothes, do not use fabric softener, and let them air dry. Fabric softener settles like a film on the fibres and makes the fabric less good at moving moisture, which is the whole reason for having bamboo viscose closest to the skin. The tops dry quickly, so two in rotation cover a whole week with a single wash along the way, and the rest of the advice is under washing and care.

Size

The model comes in sizes S to XXL and should sit close in order to work as a warming layer. Choose your usual size. The elastane makes sure the top follows your movements without pulling across the back or shoulders.
