Three pairs of white bamboo ankle tennis socks

The ankle model is the tennis sock for those who want the thick, cushioning sole without the high leg. The sock finishes at the ankle, just above the edge of the shoe, and is therefore the summer and low trainer version of the classic in the range. The pack contains three identical pairs in white, the model is unisex, and the sizes run from 30/33 to 45/49.

The ankle height explained

In the range of tennis socks there are three heights to choose between: the long ribbed leg that is meant to be seen, the mid height classic and then this one, the ankle model. It covers the ankle and sits a touch above the shoe, but it never reaches up the calf. With shorts and with narrow legged trousers it is the height that looks lightest, and in summer it is noticeably cooler not to have fabric up the leg.

The sole is still thick

The short leg does not mean that the function has been cut back. The underside of the foot is knitted extra thick, exactly as on the high models, and cushions the pressure against hard floors step by step. If you are on your feet for many hours, you notice the difference at the end of the day, no matter how low the leg is.

Does it stay up?

That is the right question to ask of any low sock. This model has a shaped heel and a leg that is exactly high enough to give the elastic something to work with, so the sock stays up. It is low, but it is not a footie, and that is precisely what stops it ending up under the heel by lunchtime.

The material

The socks are knitted from 75 % bamboo viscose, 23 % polyester and 2 % elastane. The bamboo viscose moves sweat away from the skin and out into the fabric, where it evaporates, and in warm weather, where the ankle sock belongs, that is the property that keeps the feet dry and fresh. Polyester reinforces the heel, the toe and the thick sole, elastane holds the fit. All the properties of the fibre are gathered under benefits of bamboo viscose.

For sport and leisure

The ankle height is also the one most people choose for exercise. The sock does not stick up above a running shoe or a training shoe, the thick sole cushions, and the bamboo viscose works the moisture away while your pulse is up. The same pair can therefore go straight from a walk or a training session on into the rest of the day, without anyone seeing the difference.

Washing

Wash the white socks with your light clothes at 40 degrees, skip the fabric softener, and let them air dry. The socks dry quickly, so three pairs can easily cover a whole week with a wash halfway through. More advice is found under washing and care.

Choose the range with your normal shoe size, and go down if in doubt, so the sock fits closely from the start.
