Five pairs of white bamboo ankle socks

The white ankle sock is the classic sports sock, just in a softer material. The leg sits just above the ankle, so higher than a footie and lower than an ordinary sock. It stays in place on a walk, it does not show under a pair of long trousers, and it sits neatly over the edge of a trainer if you do want it to show.

There are five pairs in the pack, and they come in 30/33, 34/39, 40/44 and 45/49. The model is unisex.

Sizes for the whole household

The range from 30/33 to 45/49 is wider than most ankle socks on the market. In practice that means the same model can be bought for a child, for a teenager and for a grown man, and that only one kind of sock has to be kept track of in the drawer. Choose by ordinary shoe size, and take the smaller of two if you are on the border. Bamboo gives a little the first few times.

What bamboo viscose does to a white sock

Bamboo viscose is a smooth and round fibre. It does not scratch the skin, and it does not pill as easily as short cotton fibre, which means that the white sock stays smooth on the surface instead of going fuzzy after ten washes. At the same time the fibre moves moisture away from the foot and out into the fabric, where it evaporates. That is the reason a bamboo sock can be worn a whole day in a closed shoe without ending up clammy.

The material is also temperature regulating. It sounds like an advertising line, but it is felt most clearly in the winter, where the foot does not get cold as soon as the sock has become slightly damp. The background and the actual properties we have gathered on facts about bamboo.

Material and certification

75 % bamboo viscose, 23 % polyester and 2 % elastane. The polyester gives durability in the heel and the toe, where socks usually go first, and the elastane keeps the leg up around the ankle. The socks are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, cert. no. 976-15301.

The bamboo comes from FSC certified forestry, which means there is control over where the raw material originates. What the label covers is on the page what FSC means.

How to keep them looking good

Wash whites separately at 40 degrees. Avoid fabric softener, which settles in the fibres and slows down the moisture wicking, and go easy on chlorine bleach, which eats away at the viscose. Air drying gives more seasons than tumble drying. It is all under washing and care.

The reason we sell them five at a time is practical. Five identical pairs give a clean pair every day of a working week, and after washing they can be paired up without looking. The price per pair is at the same time lower than if you buy them singly, and if a pair goes, it can be thrown out without ruining a set.
