The rule about socks and trousers

The classic rule is that the sock follows the trousers and not the shoe. A navy sock with navy trousers gives an unbroken line down to the shoe, and that is why navy is the most used alternative to black among people who wear smart clothes every day. With brown shoes navy often works better than black, which can end up looking too stark.

The leg

The leg reaches up the calf and stays up all day. The ribbed edge is knitted to hold without constricting, so there is usually no red groove in the skin in the evening. If you want a shorter leg, the same colour is available as a low cut.

The height also has a practical side in winter. When you sit down, the trouser leg rides up, and with a full length leg there is still fabric on the leg instead of a stretch of bare skin between sock and trouser. It sounds like a detail, but it is the kind of thing that decides whether a sock gets worn or stays in the drawer.

What bamboo viscose does

The fibre is round and smooth on the surface, where cotton fibres are shorter and rougher. That is the reason the sock feels different the very first time it is put on. More important in practice, though, is that the fibre moves moisture away from the skin and out into the fabric, where it evaporates. A foot in a closed leather shoe sweats, however smart the clothes are, and that is where the difference is noticed at the end of the day.

The material is also temperature regulating. It holds the warmth in winter and leads it away in summer, which means the same pair can be worn all year round instead of having a summer sock and a winter sock. The other properties are set out under benefits of bamboo viscose.

Composition and origin

75% bamboo viscose, 23% polyester and 2% elastane. The polyester provides the durability in the heel and toe, the elastane holds the shape. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, cert. no. 976-15301, which means tested for substances harmful to health in every part.
